Helping animals and people
The American Fondouk Animal Hospital in Fez, Morocco, shares our values and has a century-long sterling record.
As a small company we are able to practice direct giving and have met the recipients in person. The donations are used to support the work while the bare minimum is spent on administrative overhead.

The American Fondouk is a free, full-service animal hospital that treats thousands of animals each year. It is staffed with veterinarians, a blacksmith, and eight technicians.
The American Fondouk was founded in 1927 by Amy Bend Bishop, an American traveler who was distressed by the wretched conditions of the working pack animals in Fez. The animals needed veterinary care, improved husbandry, and humane care.
A century later, Morocco is a developing nation, but many of its people are still poor. Veterinary care may seem like a luxury in such a setting, but the economic prospects of numerous families depend on their animals' well-being. Losing an animal can devastate the livelihood of farmers and traders.
Visiting the Fondouk is profoundly moving. Seeing the young vets, many of whom are volunteers, alleviate the suffering of horses, donkeys, and mules with such care and patience is healing the world.
