Long-lasting Enjoyment
How long do the Sugar Doozy Fragrance Diffusers last?
Our goal was to strike a sensible balance between the inherent delicacy of plant-derived essential oils with the need to maintain the strength of diffusion.
Long-lasting fragrances
The fragrances we selected last 1 to 2 months between replenishments, depending on weather conditions (scents last longest in cooler temps).
A refillable air freshener
The scent will last for years with periodic replenishment. Replenishment with the enclosed spray bottle also determines the strength of the scent. Frequent replenishment will result in a stronger scent.
We embrace nose blindness as a friend, not a foe
Conventional air fresheners often rely on strong scents to counteract nose blindness. Our approach is quite different. Scents naturally vary in intensity and are highly nuanced. Our fragrances reflect this diverse range from lush aromas to subtle background notes to closely resemble the way we encounter fragrances in nature.
How does Sugar Doozy ensure a long-lasting scent?
Making our fragrance diffuser long-lasting became a key objective during the design phase, after talking with users of air fresheners who consistently noted that scents fade too quickly. Over the years since, we have tested numerous scents to identify ones that deliver a longer-lasting experience.
We found that scents like rose and bergamot were effective and long-lasting. While others, such as natural lavender, did not provide the desired longevity. We really wanted lavender to work :–(
Why is making long-lasting scents so challenging?
Fragrance and perfume making is an art and a science. It is difficult to predict how molecules of different scents will interact with each other in the real world where myriad factors are outside the control of the formulator. When it comes to longevity, delicate plant-derived essential oils are even more challenging since they tend to be affected by heat.
What is Nose Blindness?
Our perception of scents is complex and varies from person to person. "Olfactory adaptation" often referred to as "nose blindness" occurs when we become accustomed to a scent after being around it for a while. As a result, even though the fragrance may be dispersed at the same intensity, we perceive its strength as fading over time.
